Rolling Stock & Depot Engineering Expert


Morpheous is seeking a Rolling Stock & Depot Engineering Expert to join its India team to assist with current and exciting future projects. We are looking for a professional who enjoy working with people in a multidisciplinary team environment and strive for excellence. Experience in reviewing rolling stock specifications, maintenance depots, workshop design, O&M planning will be an advantage.

Key Responsibilities


• Design Basis Review: Review APD design basis, assumptions, and system philosophy for rolling stock facilities. Verify DED compliance with APD and execution-level requirements 

• Locomotive Depot Assessment: Assess existing locomotive depots including distribution, maintenance schedules, routing, technical capacity, and operational efficiency. Evaluate proposed upgraded locomotive facilities including layouts, allocation plans, workload distribution, and repair cycle adequacy 

• Rolling Stock Depot Review: Review rolling stock depots for passenger and freight trains including maintenance processes, servicing frequencies, depot sizing, and equipment requirements 

• Maintenance Data Analysis: Review available maintenance records of track and structures including track geometry data and areas requiring frequent intervention. Analyze records in conjunction with proposed upgrading/rehabilitation works to ensure design decisions address historical performance 

• Maintenance Optimization: Ensure proposed upgrading and rehabilitation works are optimized to minimize future maintenance requirements and costs. Provide recommendations for improved maintenance practices including preventive maintenance strategies, inspection protocols, and infrastructure management 

• Design for Maintainability: Evaluate design choices from perspective of long-term operational sustainability and ease of maintenance. Ensure upgraded facilities and structures are robust, durable, and maintenance-friendly 

• Value Engineering: Conduct value engineering to identify cost, layout, and operational optimization opportunities without compromising safety or performance 

• Constructability and O&M: Check constructability, O&M, safety features, accessibility, and resilience against environmental and operational stresses 

• Integration and Coordination: Ensure integration with station layouts, tracks, yard arrangements, and other civil/MEP systems. Resolve inter-disciplinary conflicts 

• Future Rolling Stock Compatibility: Ensure DED and proposed upgrades consider characteristics of future freight and passenger rolling stock including clearance, axle load, and dynamic effects on civil structures 

• Workshop and Facility Design: Review workshop layouts, equipment specifications, lifting facilities, inspection pits, and maintenance equipment 

• Stabling Yard Review: Assess stabling yard designs for capacity, track arrangements, servicing facilities, and security 

• Documentation Review: Review all DED reports, drawings, specifications, and BOQs for completeness, consistency, and adherence to international railway standards 

• Gap Identification: Formally notify deficiencies or gaps with technical justification and assist Client in resolving them

Qualifications


• Relevant Engineering Degree Qualification. We will always value your knowledge and expertise in this specialist field. Key Technical Competencies Required 

• Rolling Stock Engineering: Understanding of locomotive and railcar maintenance requirements 

• Depot Design: Expertise in maintenance depot layout, equipment, and workflow optimization 

• Workshop Engineering: Knowledge of heavy maintenance workshop facilities and equipment 

• Maintenance Planning: Experience with preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance regimes 

• Railway Operations: Understanding of rolling stock operations and servicing requirements 

• Facility Design: Knowledge of industrial facility design, utilities, and safety systems 

• Equipment Specifications: Familiarity with maintenance equipment (lifting gear, testing equipment, diagnostic tools) 

• International Best Practices: Knowledge of modern railway depot design and maintenance practices 

• Lifecycle Management: Understanding of asset lifecycle management and maintenance optimization

Additional Informations


Work Arrangement: 

• Minimum 60% on-site presence for field verification 

• Coordinate with Track Design Specialist, Bridge Engineer, and Geotechnical Expert 

• Participate in site visits and alignment verification activities
