Freight & Commercialization Specialist
Morpheous is seeking a Freight & Commercialization Specialist to join its India team to assist with current and exciting future projects. We are looking for a professional who enjoy working with people in a multidisciplinary team environment and strive for excellence. Ideally, you would be having a minimum 15 years in freight operations, logistics hubs, private participation, revenue maximization and have experience in strategizing new freight models.

Key Responsibilities
• Freight Market Analysis: Conduct comprehensive analysis of current and potential freight markets including containerized cargo, bulk commodities, agricultural products, and industrial goods
• Port-Rail Connectivity: Assess port–rail intermodal connectivity requirements including current and projected freight flows, yard and terminal capacity, track access arrangements, and necessary infrastructure/operational improvements for seamless integration between and major ports
• Multimodal Integration: Identify opportunities for multimodal integration including road-rail transfer facilities, dry ports, and logistics centers
• Freight Demand Forecasting: Develop freight demand forecasts considering economic growth, industrial development, and modal shift potential from road to rail
• Competitive Analysis: Analyze competitive position of rail freight versus road transport including cost, reliability, transit time, and service quality comparisons
• Freight Service Design: Design freight service offerings including train schedules, wagon types, service frequencies, and customer service standards
• Pricing Strategy: Develop freight pricing strategies balancing cost recovery, market competitiveness, and revenue maximization
• Customer Segmentation: Identify key freight customer segments and develop targeted service and marketing strategies
• Infrastructure Requirements: Identify infrastructure requirements for freight operations including terminals, yards, loading/unloading facilities, and warehouses
• Technology Integration: Assess technology requirements for freight operations including tracking systems, yard management, and customer information systems
• Private Sector Participation: Identify opportunities for private sector participation in freight operations including private freight operators, terminal operators, and logistics service providers
• Commercialization Models: Develop commercialization models for freight services including PPP structures, concessions, and joint ventures
• Non-Fare Revenue: Identify non-fare revenue opportunities from freight-related services including warehousing, logistics, and value-added services
• Operational Efficiency: Recommend measures to improve freight operational efficiency including wagon turnaround time, terminal productivity, and asset utilization
• Modal Shift Strategy: Develop concrete measures to shift freight from road to rail including service improvements, pricing adjustments, and market incentives
• International Best Practices: Benchmark against international railway freight best practices and identify applicable lessons for Pakistan Railways
• Implementation Roadmap: Develop phased implementation roadmap for freight commercialization and service improvements
• Revenue Projections: Prepare freight revenue projections based on market analysis and service improvement plans
Qualifications
• Engineering Degree in Logistics, Freight Operations, and other relevant field Key Technical Competencies Required
• Freight Railway Operations: Deep understanding of railway freight operations and logistics
• Intermodal Transport: Knowledge of intermodal operations and port-rail connectivity
• Logistics Management: Understanding of logistics and supply chain management
• Market Analysis: Skills in freight market research and demand forecasting
• Commercial Strategy: Experience developing commercial strategies for freight services
• PPP Structures: Understanding of PPP and private participation models for freight
• Pricing Strategy: Knowledge of freight pricing and tariff design
• Terminal Operations: Understanding of freight terminal and yard operations
• International Freight: Familiarity with international freight railway practices
• Revenue Management: Skills in revenue optimization and forecasting
